IRIC's Communiqué about the profane caricatures

In The Name of God

Islamic Research and Information Center Manifesto

On the occasion of the publication of profane caricatures of the prophet of Islam by European press

In the past few months, the world has stood witness to yet another uncultured, saddening and antagonizing act by the supposedly civilized European world under the pretext of “free speech” against the beliefs of one and a half billion Muslims. The “Joland Post” Danish tabloid published insulting caricatures of the prophet of compassion His Holiness Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), which was followed in a few other European countries set out to reprint the offending caricatures. The interesting point was that none of the European press media condemned the nature of such an act and they even tried to justify it in the pretext of “freedom of speech” and recently even in Denmark, it was proposed that the caricatures be published in educational books so that they would not be forgotten and a museum be selected to also preserve the offensive images. The latter actions and proposals speak of the ancient hostility by certain press and governing institutions toward Islam and Muslims that taking into account the Zionist proprietorship of such press media, reveal the black hands at work behind the scenes.

The Islamic Research and Information Center (IRIC), while condemning these uncultivated moves carried out under the attractive masquerade of culture and the freedom of speech, presents the following proposals to the Muslim cultural and intellectual communities within the world of Islam:

1.     What is for certain is that the increasing inclination of European and American intellectuals toward Islam will sway the Zionist organizations and secular leaders toward profane moves such as the publication of the offending caricatures and actions that we will no doubt shortly witness in the future. We must neutralize such actions with timely and culturally decisive reactions to bring together the Muslim masses.

2.     We must spare no effort in publishing the rich Islamic heritage, in particular in Europe and the US, so more hearts and minds are attracted to the heavenly foundations of Islam.

3.     Initiate legal proceedings in international organizations such as UNESCO and the UN in relation to the violation of laws on the sanctities, against newspapers and media responsible so as to prevent a repeat of such actions.

4.     Writers and artists of the world of Islam pay greater attention to their missions in publicizing the Islamic culture and utilize all their ability in demonstrating the true face of Islam.

We hope that the global solidarity of Muslims in particular the Muslim intellectuals and learned parties not only neutralize such conspiracies but also in direct contrast to their instigators’ desires, result in the greater ascent and prominence of Islam and Muslims.
