The Centre for the Study of Islam in the UK, based in the School of History, Archaeology and Religion, wishes to appoint to a three-year fixed-term post in the field of British Muslim Studies.  Applicants will be expected to apply for and to conduct research in the field of British Muslim Studies and to support the public engagement activities of the Islam-UK Centre, leading to the publishing of work in high-quality journals and to pursue excellence in research. Preference may be given to those with a speciality in the sociology or anthropology of Muslim communities in Britain (especially method and theory); and/or Islam and Muslim communities in Wales. This is a full-time post, fixed-term for three years.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

•   To conduct research within the field of British Muslim Studies and contribute to the overall research performance of the Islam-UK Centre by the production of measurable outputs including bidding for funding, publishing in high quality peer-review academic journals, and delivery of conference papers.
•   To develop research objectives and proposals for own or joint research, including major research funding proposals, in the field of British Muslim studies.
•   To give conference/seminar papers at a local and national level.
•   To build and create networks both internally and externally to the university
