The Department of History at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, invites applications for two full-time assistant professors in the field of History of Science.

The candidates’ research record and teaching should focus on one of the following fields:

• History of science in the Islamic world from the Medieval or Early-Modern to the Modern era;

• History of science in the Ottoman World from the Medieval or Early-Modern to the Modern era;

• History of science in Europe and the US from the Medieval or Early-Modern to the Modern era.

Applicants must have a PhD by the time of the job offer, excellent command of English, as well as advanced knowledge of a second language in the candidate’s field of expertise. The knowledge of a research language in the candidate’s field of expertise is also expected.

At least one major publication in English (either an article in an international peer reviewed journal, or a book chapter in a volume published by an internationally acclaimed publisher) is required.

Successful candidates, once hired, will teach a minimum of two courses per semester, as well as balancing an active research program with service to the Department. Please note that these positions are open to Turkish and non-Turkish citizens. Boğaziçi University is a leading research university in Turkey where the language of instruction is English.
