Spain to lead restoration campaign of Islamic antiquities

Spain announced its will to restore the various Muslim antiquities and sites at Granada, the total of the fund reached 20.4 million Euros, according to Russia Today.

The main aim of this step is to encourage more visitors to those tourist and archaeological sites. The main included sites in the plan of restoration are the Alhambra, Palace of the Cordovas, the Chapiz House, and Carmen of the Martyrs.

A number of Spanish institutions will take part in the project such as the Spanish Ministry of Culture, University in Granada, and others.

Moreover, the University of Granada was funded with 1.3 million Euros to enhance its role in preserving the heritage of the city culturally and architecturally.

It is worthy to mention that the state witnessed a huge discovery related to the Muslim heritage in Spain.

Workers helped in unearthing 400 Muslim graves in Zaragoza last month. The graves date back to the 18th century and they contain more than 4500 bodies.

Archaeologists are still studying the graves and examining the 20.000-meter archaeological site.
