19th Media Workshop with Dr. Alina Kokoschka (Berlin/Lübeck)

Up to ten participants will be chosen to discuss selected academic articles about aesthetics and material culture in the Middle East in an intense reading session of four hours. The texts will be distributed in advance.

The curator, writer, and researcher Dr. Alina Kokoschka, who will present her book Waren Welt Islam. Konsumkultur und Warenästhetik in Syrien2000−2011, published in 2019, at LMU Munich on 13 January 2022 at 6 pm, holds a PhD in Islamic Studies and investigates contemporary Islam at the intersection of things, images, and script. She founded the contemporary archive and virtual showroom, “Hawass: Contemporary Islamic Aesthetics.”
