The vision

To enhance the human living experience through a deep, dynamic and relevant understanding and articulation of the Islamic faith for the 21st Century.

The aim is to bridge the gap between the intellectual tradition of Islam and modernity; activist and intellectual strands of civil society and foster a more contextualized and nuanced understanding of Islam amongst Muslims as well as mainstream audiences.

Proposition

At IIDR people engage with Islamic knowledge disciplines through a holistic, contextualized and multi-disciplinary approach where the worlds of Quranic Studies and Islamic Jurisprudence converge with Philosophy and History and where Prophetic Traditions and Sufism are explored through the lens of Psychology and Leadership Studies. It is our contention that a dynamic synthesis between Islamic sciences and human knowledge provides the most effective articulation of faith relevant to its time and space.

The audience

Students, professionals and institutions who want to enhance their understanding of Islam.

The people

IIDR strives for academic excellence. In pursuit of this objective, our lecturers and instructors hail from prestigious academies of learning and many are the world’s leading experts in their respective fields of specialization. Broadly speaking, the lecturers delivering our courses or contributing in other ways fall into one of four categories – traditional scholars, university academics, specialists and experts and we also provide a unique platform for young Western Muslim scholars and teachers.
