In this special public lecture, Dr. Brown will turn his attention to the often-discussed but very often misunderstood subject of Islamic Law (Shari ‘a). How intolerant is the Shari ‘a?

The first public lecture in Scotland by renowned scholar and Director of the Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University.

Dr Jonathan A. C. Brown is author of the acclaimed monographs Hadith: Muhammad's Legacy in the Medieval and Modern World (2009) and Misquoting Muhammad: The Challenge and Choices of Interpreting the Prophet's Legacy (2014). His 2011 publication Muhammad: A Very Short Introduction has provided audiences throughout the English-speaking world with a highly accessible and engaging introduction to the life and legacy of the Prophet Muhammad. In this special public lecture, Dr Brown will turn his attention to the often-discussed but very often misunderstood subject of Islamic Law (Shari'a).
